Terms of use
These terms explain what RTO Pro is, what it is not, and the rules for using it. They are written in plain language on purpose — you should be able to understand what you are agreeing to.
Working draft — under legal review
These terms are a working draft prepared for review by qualified Canadian counsel before launch. They are provided for transparency during the platform's development. Wording may change following that review, and material changes will be noted on this page.

RTO Pro provides legal information: general explanations of Ontario tenancy rules and processes, based on official sources, along with tools for organizing your own records. It does not provide legal advice: an opinion about what the law means for your specific situation and what you should do about it.
Only a lawyer, licensed paralegal, or community legal clinic can give you legal advice. Nothing on this platform — including any tool output, checklist, summary, or generated document — is advice about your case, and you should not treat it that way. If your situation matters to you, have a qualified professional review it. The Find Legal Help page can help you locate one.
RTO Pro is not a law firm and is not a licensed legal service provider. Using the platform, contacting us, entering information into a tool, or purchasing a plan does not create a solicitor-client, paralegal-client, or any other advisory or fiduciary relationship between you and RTO Pro.
Information you enter into today's tools stays on your device (see the privacy policy), and in any case, communications with RTO Pro are not protected by solicitor-client privilege.
We work to keep information current and sourced from official Ontario materials, and we show review dates and sources on legal-information pages. Even so, laws, regulations, forms, and tribunal practices change, and general information can never capture every exception that may apply to your situation.
RTO Pro therefore does not guarantee that any information on the platform is accurate, complete, or current, and does not guarantee any outcome — including the outcome of any application, hearing, negotiation, or dispute. No tool on this platform can determine whether a notice is valid or predict how the Landlord and Tenant Board will decide a matter.
You are responsible for verifying anything important before relying on it. That means:
Legal deadlines in tenancy matters can be short, strict, and subject to exceptions. RTO Pro does not calculate legal deadlines and does not guarantee that any date shown on the platform is a correct or complete legal deadline.
Tools such as the Deadline Tracker display dates you enter — they are reminders of your own records, not legal determinations. A missed or miscalculated deadline can be very serious. If you believe a deadline may apply to you, confirm it directly with the Landlord and Tenant Board or a legal professional as soon as possible, and do not wait for a reminder from any tool.
User accounts are not yet available. All information pages and current tools work without one. When accounts launch, these terms will be updated first with the rules that apply — including registration requirements, your responsibilities for keeping credentials secure, and how accounts may be suspended or closed. Continued use of account features after that update will be subject to the updated terms.
RTO Pro exists to help Ontario renters understand their situation, preserve genuine records, and prepare honestly. When using the platform, you agree to:
The organizing tools are for preserving and structuring genuine records. You must not use RTO Pro to:
Presenting false evidence to the Landlord and Tenant Board or a court can have serious legal consequences and can destroy an otherwise strong case. The value of an organized file comes from its honesty.
You must not use RTO Pro to:
We may restrict or block access that violates these terms, where we have the technical means to do so.
Paid plans are not yet live, and no payment is currently collected on the platform. The plans shown on the pricing page describe intended offerings, and figures may change before launch.
When payments launch, these commitments will apply:
Full payment, renewal, and refund terms will be added to this page before any plan goes on sale.
The planned Case Package is an organization service: it assembles the information and records you provide into a structured file — a summary, chronology, evidence index, and related materials.
It is not representation. A case package:
A case package is designed to make a professional's review faster and better — not to replace it.
The platform — its text, design, structure, and software — belongs to RTO Pro or its licensors. You may use it for your personal, non-commercial purposes and share links to it freely.
Your information stays yours. You keep all rights to the documents, records, and information you enter or organize with the platform's tools. RTO Pro claims no ownership of your case materials.
Official government and tribunal materials referenced on the platform — statutes, regulations, and forms — belong to their respective publishers, and we link to them at their official sources.
RTO Pro is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The platform is in active development: features may change, be added, or be removed, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Because today's tools store data in your own browser, an outage of our website does not delete your entries — but you should still export or photograph anything important, since your browser data can be lost in ways we cannot prevent or restore.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RTO Pro and the people who build and operate it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including missed deadlines, lost evidence or data, lost housing, or adverse tribunal or court outcomes — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform.
To the same extent, RTO Pro's total liability for any claim connected to the platform is limited to the amount you paid RTO Pro for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose (which today is zero, as no paid services are live).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, and consumer-protection laws may give you rights these terms cannot reduce. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about these terms or the platform will be dealt with in the courts of Ontario, unless applicable law gives you the right to proceed elsewhere.
We will update these terms as the platform develops — including before accounts, payments, document storage, professional sharing, or AI features launch. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change with each revision, and material changes will be flagged there. Continued use of the platform after an update means the current terms apply to that use.
Questions about these terms are welcome. Email hello@rtopro.ca or use the contact page. If you believe any part of these terms is unclear or unfair, tell us — plain, honest terms are part of what this platform is supposed to be.
This is legal information, not legal advice. RTO Pro is not a law firm. Deadlines and exceptions may apply to your situation — a qualified legal professional should confirm anything important before you rely on it.
